E’ un film del 2021 scritto e diretto da Adam Mc Key è una commedia nera di satira e di politica apocalittica, interpretato principalmente da Jennyfer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timotheè Chalamet , Cate Blanchette e Maryl Streep. Il film è stato elogiato per le performance degli attori e della musica inoltre è stato accolto molto positivamente dagli scienziati per il cambiamento climatico. TRAMA:
Il film racconta di due scienziati/astronomi che scoprono una cometa che sta per schiantarsi contro la terra e distruggere l’intera civiltà umana e cercano di mettere i guardia l’umanità e principali autorità, ma non vengono ascoltati. Il film è un allegoria al cambiamento climatico ed è una satira all’indifferenza del governo, della politica, delle celebrità e dei media nei confronti della crisi climatica

Jennyfer Lawrence/Kate Dibiasky: è una astronoma/scienziata ed è la prima che scopre la cometa, una ragazza determinata a combattere per ciò in cui crede e nonostante i suoi sforzi, nel corso della storia rimane molto delusa e sconcertata dall’indifferenza e dalla mancanza di empatia dell’essere umano di fronte ad un evento apocalittico che coinvolge tutta l’umanità

PRODUZIONE:
Adam McKey disse che questo film nasce dal suo terrore per la crisi climatica e il The Guardian gli disse usare il suo umorismo per la scrittura del film sul cambiamento climatico, ma che allo stesso tempo fosse diverso dai soliti cambiamenti climatici post-apocalittici tipo “Mad Max”. Cosi McKey ha cominciato a raccontare e descrivere il film come una “miscela di commedia ampia” con degli elementi catastrofici.
ANALISI E TEMI:
La Comunicazione scientifica: ruota tutto attorno a Kate e Mindy che cercano di condividere la notizia della loro scoperta e ne riconoscono il pericolo cosi da cominciare a diffonderla sui media, ai politici e i talk show che invece ignorano l’apocalisse
Centrismo statunitense: Nel film ci sono diverse divisioni partigiane e un alta sfiducia nella scienza negli ambienti sociali. La scrittrice Julie Doyle ha inoltre dichiarato che la comunicazione sul clima deve mantenere in atto sia la mitigazione che l’adattamento al clima rendendo le disuguaglianze storiche storiche e strutturali del capitalismo e colonialismo interconnesse fra loro
Formazione sui media per scienziati: il concetto di formazione sui media può presentarsi in varie forme ad esempio che lo stile di comunicazione degli scienziati è piuttosto oggettivo e complesso e pieno di gerghi tecnici, difficile da comprendere per le persone. Un altro metodo è la narrazione dove in un momento del film Mindy viene intervistato e mostra come una “storia vera” venga mantenuta “semplice”
Emozioni di genere nella comunicazione scientifica: il discorso di genere sulle emozioni percorre quasi tutto il film e la maggior parte comprende le scene di Mindy e Kate e durante uno di questi Kate hanno un esplosione emotiva per influenzare e addolcire il pubblico e Mindy viene considerato uno sexy scienziato che offre consigli come calmare gli spettatori, mentre lo sfogo di Kate viene messa da parte e screditata e soggetta a dei meme

“Don’t Look Up” è un buon film strutturato con la solita solidità che di solito mettono i maestri. Lo si può definire una Commedia-catastrofica, ovvero un disaster-movie. In breve il film racconta di due scienziati che scoprono una cometa che si sta avvicinando alla terra causandone la distruzione, il punto che una volta certi del disastro cercano di avvisare le autorità con il risultato di essere messi al muro come paranoici e visionari.
In questo mondo Maryl Streep è il Presidnte degli Stati uniti è una tabagista con il figlio mezzo scemo e messo a capo del proprio staff che le da problemi di scandali di natura sessuale quindi è ascoltare storie dei due catastrofisti non è cima alla sua lista, ma nonostante Kate e Mindy facciano sentire la propria voce ottengono l’effetto contrario: lui diventa una specie di icona sessuale mentre le viene derisa come meme-virale. In seguito l’amministrazione americana, per distogliere l’attenzione dal Presidente/Maryl Streep dai suoi eventuali scandali, ecc.. decide di preparare una missione per distruggere l’ordigno celeste, ma il lancio fallisce poco l’invio dei missili perchè interviene una multinazionale che fabbrica cellulari che, ingenuamente, pensa vuole usare la materia minerale della cometa per ricavarne profitto.
“Don’t Look Up” funziona fino a venti minuti dalla fine, fino al momento in cui il film precipita su posizioni moralistiche di bassa lega: Leonardo Di Caprio/Mindy che lascia il personaggio della Blanchett, che si appena portato a letto tradendo la moglie, per tornare dalla famiglia e Kate entra in una dimensione affettiva con un ragazzetto e infine tutti insieme a consumano un’ultima cena prima che la cometa distrugga la terra

It’s a 2021 film written and directed by Adam Mc Key is a black comedy of satire and apocalyptic politics, mainly starring Jennyfer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timotheè Chalamet, Cate Blanchette and Maryl Streep. The film was praised for the performances of the actors and music and was very well received by climate change scientists. It had an impressive four Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, four Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture/Comedy and was named as one of the best films of 2021.
PLOT:
The film tells of two scientists/astronomers who discover a comet that is about to crash into the earth and destroy the entire human civilization and they try to warn humanity and leading authorities but they are not listened to. The film is an allegory for climate change and is a satire on the indifference of government, politics, celebrities and the media towards the climate crisis
PERSONAGES:
Jennyfer Lawrence/Kate Dibiasky: she is an astronomer/scientist and she is the first to discover the comet, a girl determined to fight for what she believes in and despite her efforts, throughout the story she remains very disappointed and disconcerted by the indifference and lack of empathy of the human being in the face of an apocalyptic event that involves all of humanity
Leonardo DiCaprio/Randall Mindy: astronomy professor and colleague and Kate, he is the first person in whom Kate puts her trust, being the only one who takes the cause seriously, for his job, the cause together with her, a man of good heart, but unfortunately has with many family problems
Maryl Streep/President of the United States/Jaie Orlan: He’s the President of the United States, a very full of himself and a prisoner of his ego. Upon seeing the news about Kate and Randall’s comet, he laughs at them and dismisses them as tragic and exaggerated to which he should not pay attention and finally takes sides against them
PRODUCTION
Adam McKey said this film was born out of his terror of the climate crisis and The Guardian told him to use his humor in writing the film about climate change, but at the same time be different from the usual post-apocalyptic climate change like “Mad Max”. So McKey began to collect and describe the film as a “blend of broad comedy” with catastrophic elements.
ANALYSIS AND THEMES:
Science communication: everything revolves around Kate and Mindy who try to share the news of their discovery and recognize the danger so as to start spreading it on the media, politicians and talk shows who instead ignore the apocalypse
US centrism: In the film there are several partisan divisions and a high distrust of science in social circles. Writer Julie Doyle further argued that climate communication must keep both climate mitigation and adaptation in place by making the historical and structural inequalities of capitalism and colonialism interconnected.
Media education for scientists: The concept of media education can come in various forms such as that the communication style of scientists is quite objective and complex and full of technical jargon, difficult for people to understand. Another method is narration where in a moment of the film Mindy is interviewed and shows how a “true story” is kept “simple”
Gendered Emotions in Science Communication: The genre discourse of emotions runs through almost the entire film and most of it includes Mindy and Kate scenes and during one of these Kate have an emotional outburst to influence and soothe the audience and Mindy is considered one sexy scientist offering advice on how to calm viewers down, while Kate’s outburst is sidelined and discredited and subjected to memes

PLOT:
The series tells the story of Lisey Landon, who has just been widowed, her husband, being a famous writer, was unfortunately killed by a fanatic admirer, Jim Dooley, and after her husband’s death Lisey finds some manuscripts which, however, she decides not to publish, so Jim begins to persecute the woman until he attacks her in her home
CHARACTERS:
Julianne Moore/Lisey Landon: She is the protagonist of the story and Scott’s wife. As soon as her husband dies, Lisey discovers unpublished manuscripts and decides not to proceed with it to watch over her husband’s death, but unfortunately her determination to protect her husband’s memory becomes dangerous
Clive Owen / Scott Landon: Talented writer and husband of Lisey, unfortunately he is killed by a fanatical admirer during one of his events, but his manuscripts will not be the only legacy he will leave his wife, but rather an authentic world fabulous.
Jennifer Jason Leight / Darla Debusher: She is Lisey’s older sister and unfortunately she has sentimental problems with her husband for which she attempts suicide for cheating on her. TRAMA:
Ambar è un’immigrata clandestina messicana, trasferita a Cleveland dopo la morte di sua madre, trova sistemazione in un palazzo dall’aria sinistra, tenuto da due custodi dall’aspetto inquietante. Con il passare del tempo si rende conto che nel palazzo succedono cose strane e l’atmosfera diventa sempre più inquietante cosi Ambar dovrà arrivare a credere che non tutto quello che vede corrisponde alla realtà

Ambar/Cristina Rodlo: E’ una giovane immigrata messicana che si trasferisce a Cleveland dopo la morte della madre. Appena arrivata alloggia in un palazzo alquanto misterioso che si rivelerà una vera trappola mortale

Una casa che cade totalmente a pezzi, piena di regole ma soprattutto piena di rumori e presenze non umane e come se la casa riuscisse nelle paure delle ossessioni delle sue inquiline, facendo emergere i momenti più tristi come quelli con sua madre oppure quelli con suo figlio.
Questi eventi hanno un origine; Red e suo fratello Becker rispondono ad una creatura che vive in una scatola di pietra, una creatura dall’aspetto spaventoso e orribile con un corpo deforme e scomposto simile ad un ragno. Tutto ciò che ha intorno la creatura sono tutti elementi che simboleggiano i sacrifici umani in cambio di privilegi. In merito alla provenienza non ci viene detto nulla, anche se viene fatto vedere che il padre di Red e Becker hanno recuperato la scatola fra le rovine in Sud America, ma Becker con il passare degli anni ha sacrificato molte persone inclusi i sui genitori ed è legato a lui in e in un modo o nell’altro fa capire che c’è qualcosa che non va in lui.
La Creatura
La creatura agisce uscendo dalla scatola per staccare la testa delle vittime, cosi induce Ambar a sognare di nuovo la madre, ma l’illusione che sia tutto finito per Ambar dura poco, perché mentre è appoggiata sulle sue gambe, la madre non appare affatto dispiaciuta nel suo sogno e di essere un ostacolo per la figlia e fa di tutto per trattenerla a se, ma infine Ambar riesce a prendere il pieno controllo.
La creatura deve avere il consenso della vittima prima di sacrificarla e Ambar nel suo sogno si ribella a sua madre, non dando alla creatura il consenso e si allontana, quindi uccide la creatura soffocandola e si rintana nella scatola ridotta quasi in cenere diventando non più un pericolo per lei.
Il Finale
Dopo sconfitta la creatura Ambar corre a salvare l’altra ragazza, ma non ci riesce, ma allo stesso tempo riesce però ad uccidere Red e quando finalmente sta per andarsene davanti alla porta la luce del sole la sfiora e la sua caviglia torna come nuova, molto probabilmente è un legame che ha instaurato con la creatura perchè è chiaro che Ambar è la sua nuova padrona che però va in contrasto con la sua personalità che si è dimostrata generosa e gentile, ma se il film s’intitola “Nessuno ne uscirà vivo” sarebbe peggio che fosse morta

Il film ha un ambientazione prevalentemente urbana, quella dei bassifondi e lo scopo di Ambar è la possibilità di un impiego mensile, ma per un colloquio si deve procurare prima un documento d’identità illegalmente e va a vivere in affitto in questo condominio e subito si rivela una situazione di orrori e situazioni che rendono la vita di Ambar un vero e proprio inferno e anche se Ambar sia l’unica inquilina dell’edificio, Ambar sente i pianti disperati e avverte numerose presenze spaventose, poi intuisce che i due fratelli nascondono qualcosa di mostruoso nel sotterraneo. A tutto questo si aggiunge la visione di una strana scatola con all’interno una creatura misteriosa e mostruosa e anche al di fuori di tutto questo la situazione non è rosea e al lavoro viene sfruttata e malpagata. E come se si mostrassero le “due facce” della donna che si specchiano in un vortice di orrore e solitudine e a tutto questo si aggiunge un grande rimorso per la madre e infine l’estrema polarizzazione sessuale nel film: le donne sono vittime mentre gli uomini i padroni dell’albergo

PLOT:
Ambar is a Mexican illegal immigrant, moved to Cleveland after her mother’s death, she finds accommodation in a sinister-looking mansion, held by two creepy-looking caretakers. As time goes by she realizes that strange things happen in the building and the atmosphere becomes more and more disturbing so she Ambar she will have to come to believe that not everything she sees corresponds to reality
CHARACTERS:
Ambar / Cristina Rodlo: she is a young Mexican immigrant who moves to Cleveland after the death of her mother. As soon as she arrives she is staying in a rather mysterious building that will prove to be a real death trap
David Figlioli / Becker: He is the owner of the building, a mysterious and inquisitive man. He takes care of his sick brother Red and initially comes out friendly and kind to the girls and then finally reveals himself for who he is to protect his brother him.
Red / Marc Menchaca: He is Becker’s sick brother, he lives in his brother’s shadow and in order to please him and shares all his actions, even the most etsreme ones

These events have an origin; Red and his brother Becker respond to a creature that lives in a stone box, a frightening and hideous looking creature with a deformed and disheveled spider-like body. Everything around the creature are all elements that symbolize human sacrifices in exchange for privileges. We are not told anything about the provenance, although it is shown that Red and Becker’s father recovered the box from the ruins in South America, but Becker over the years has sacrificed many people including his parents and is tied to him in and in one way or another makes it clear that there is something wrong with him.
The Creature
The creature acts by coming out of the box to detach the victims’ heads, thus inducing Ambar to dream of her mother again, but the illusion that it is all over for Ambar does not last long, because while she is resting on her legs, the mother does not appear sorry at all. in his dream and to be an obstacle to his daughter and does everything to keep her to himself, but finally Ambar manages to take full control.
The creature must have the consent of the victim before sacrificing it and Ambar in his dream rebels against his mother, not giving the creature the consent and walks away, then kills the creature by suffocating it and holed up in the box reduced to almost ashes becoming no longer a danger to her.
The end

“Baby” è un film muto del 2020, diretto da Juanma Bajo e scritto insieme a Elisa Marinas. I suoi interpreti principali sono Rosie Day, Harriot Sansom Harris e Natalia Tena. Nonostante è un film “muto” è diretto molto bene e non annoia, ha un ritmo molto veloce e gli attori danno una notevole interpretazione. Il film in se è molto inquietante per il suo genere e tratta di un argomento molto delicato in modo quasi fiabesco
TRAMA:
Una ragazza tossico dipendente partorisce da sola in un momento della sua vita molto complicato, purtroppo il suo esaurimento per la droga la porta a liberarsi del bambino in un modo molto brutale, ma con il passare del tempo Neska, si rende conto di aver fatto una grandissimo errore

Il film aggredisce subito con qualcosa che non ci aspettiamo, Baby non ha dialoghi anche se ci sono delle urla molto raramente. La musica è molto probabilmente una delle più belle di Bingen Mendizabal e Koldo Urlarte che parla al posto degli attori. Il regista racconta qualcosa che s’avvicina ad una fiaba, ma allo stesso tempo rispecchia la realtà: una ragazza drogata decidere di vendere suo figlio/a, che a partorito da sola, ad una oscura associazione stregonesca, ma ha una riflessione ci ripensa e va in missione salvataggio, cosi s’insinua in un luogo sinistro dove abitano tre donne che di fatto sono: “La maturità (Emakumea), la gioventù (Albinoa) e la fanciullezza (Neskatoa). L’abitazione sembra un labirinto, una trappola, una specie di ragnatela che divora le proprie prede. Lo stile di regia è sublime, ad ogni inquadratura cerca la meraviglia e la bellezza del mondo , dal piccolo al grande, dal microcosmo al macrocosmo

The film immediately attacks with something we do not expect, Baby has no dialogue even if there are screams very rarely. The music is most likely one of the finest by Bingen Mendizabal and Koldo Urlarte speaking for the actors. The director tells something that approaches a fairy tale, but at the same time reflects reality: a drugged girl decides to sell her son / daughter, who gave birth alone, to an obscure witch association, but has a reflection, she thinks about it and he goes on a rescue mission, so he insinuates himself in a sinister place where three women live who in fact are: “Maturity (Emakumea), youth (Albinoa) and childhood (Neskatoa). Penny Dreadful è una serie televisa horror anglo-statunitense, scritta principalemente da John Logan, il titolo è riferito in particolare alle riviste ,del 1830, che trattavano principalemente di racconti dell’orrore come Varney il Vampiro, Sweeney Todd ecc..che costavano un penny.
Questa serie però racchiude principalmente anche personaggi di romanzi famosi come “Dracula” e la “Lega Degli uomini straordinari” come Il Caso del Dottor Jack e Mr. Hide, Mina Murray ecc…
TRAMA:
La serie si divide in tre stagioni:
La prima stagione: presenta inizialmente i personaggi tra cui la protagonista della serie Vanessa Ives, che insieme a Ser Malcom, chiedono aiuto a Ethan Chandler per un lavoro notturno, ed a quest’impresa viene in aiuto il Dottor Victor Frankenstein, intanto Vanessa viene coinvolta sentimentalmente dall’affascinante Dorian Grey, ma in tutto questo c’è Lucifero che la vuole come sua sposa e regina.
Nella seconda stagione: Vanessa viene perseguitata da una congrega di streghe, comandata dall’affascinante Evelyn Poole/Madame Kali, che la vogliono costringere a prestare devozione al loro padrone Lucifero.
La terza stagione: Dopo la seconda stagione i personaggi principali vengono separati perchè ognuno decide di prendere la propria strada ed è la stagione dove nel finale si deciderà per l’anima di Vanessa

PRODUZIONE:
Poco prima del Gennaio 2013 Logan e Mendes avevano già diretto Skyfall. La produzione era programmata per la seconda metà del 2013 e sapevano che la serie sarebbe stata ambientata a Londra. Il presidente di Showtime, David Nevins, disse che la serie doveva avere dei toni realistici. Logan da sempre è sempre stato appassionato di mostri scrisse uno “Spec script” che sono delle sceneggiature realizzate senza committenza, per ogni episodio della serie e nel 2013 venne costruito il “The Penny Dreadful Production Blog” che era il primo blog per una serie e il sito da informazioni sulle prime fasi della serie fino alla terza stagione con varie interviste per poi migrare su tumbler
DIFFERENZE CON LE OPERE ORIGINALI
Dracula di Bram Stocker: Nel libro Van Helsing incontra personalmente Dracula, mentre nella serie non dice mai averlo espressamente di averlo incontrato e ne nemmeno che sua moglie è stata trasformata, nel libro la moglie di Van Helsing impazzisce dopo che è morto suo figlio che non è citato nella serie.
Alla fine del libro Mina viene salvata, mentre nella serie è un’esca per ritrovare Vanessa e alla fine del libro Dracula viene ucciso mentre invece alla fine della serie lascia semplicemente Londra
Frankenstain di Mary Shelly: nel libro Victor da vità ad una sola creatura che è Proteo, ma non compare mai, mentre invece nella serie lui da vita e ben tre creature che sono Jhon, Lily e Proteo. Victor crea Lily perchè glielo impone John e il ruolo di Lily nel libro è una ragazza di nome Elizabeth. Nelle serie la Creatura gli impone di creare una compagna per lui, mentre nel romanzo Victor la distrugge subito dopo che la finita, dopodiche la Cretura nel libro si reca al Polo Nord, ma nella serie torna a Londra

PRODUCTION
Shortly before January 2013, Logan and Mendes had already directed Skyfall. Production was scheduled for the second half of 2013 and they knew the series would be set in London. Showtime president David Nevins said the series needed to be realistic in tone. Logan has always been passionate about monsters he wrote a “Spec script” which are scripts made without commission, for each episode of the series and in 2013 the “The Penny Dreadful Production Blog” was created which was the first blog for a series and the site gives information on the first stages of the series up to the third season with various interviews and then migrates to tumbler
DIFFERENCES WITH ORIGINAL WORKS
Bram Stocker’s Dracula: In the book Van Helsing personally meets Dracula, while in the series he never specifically says that he has met him or that his wife has been transformed, in the book Van Helsing’s wife goes mad after her son died who did not. is mentioned in the series.
At the end of the book Mina is saved, while in the series she is a lure to find Vanessa and at the end of the book Dracula is killed while at the end of the series she simply leaves London.
Frankenstain by Mary Shelly: in the book Victor gives life to only one creature that is Proteus, but he never appears, while in the series he gives life to three creatures that are Jhon, Lily and Proteus. Victor creates Lily because John forces him to and Lily’s role in the book is a girl named Elizabeth. In the series the Creature forces him to create a mate for him, while in the novel Victor destroys her immediately after the end, after which the Creature in the book goes to the North Pole, but in the series he returns to London
The Portrait of Dorian Gray: The book makes no mention of causing demonic possession like Vanessa does, and her immortality is not mentioned either. In the series he makes no mention of wanting to become human or to kill like he does in the book

E’ la “seconda stagione” di The Haunting ed è un adattamento al romanzo di Henry James “Giro di Vite”, ma include anche altri lavori di Henry James creati per lo spettacolo

Il film di “Suspence” di Jack Clayton (The Innocents) che arrivò nei cinema americani nel 1961, si apriva con una novità per gli spettatori: ed era uno schermo nero al buio con il brano “O Willow Waly” cantata da voci infantili. “The Haunting of Bly Manor” riparte da qui, liberamente ispirato al romanzo di Henry James “Giro di Vite”, insieme alla seconda stagione è una serie creata da Mike Flanagan e il brano “O Willow Way” viene proposto all’inizio in varie modalità in modo da far capire che non vuole parlare solo del libro ma anche con il film del ’61.
La protagonista è Dany Clayton, interprtata da Victoria Pedretti e viene convocata per fare l’educatrice a due bambini, Miles e Flora, in quanto la governante precdente fece una fine misteriosa. Nelle opere di Mike Flanaghan quello che viene messo in risalto è la loro psiche a cominciare dalla famiglia a Hill House fino alla famiglia tradizionale in Bly Manor anche se gli abitanti della casa non hanno legami di angue, ma costituiscono lo stesso un nucleo famigliare. Sul piano visivo Flanaghan rende la sua opera compatta e omogenea.
Nella sua narrativa c’è sempre una persona che apre la storia, non conosciamo la sua identità, ma sappiamo che intrattiene gli ospiti e anche se non sembra è un’apertura dedicata a Henry James, la voce fuori campo s’esprime nella stessa maniera dello scrittore e intorno alle loro vite ci sono le vicende del maniero: dei bambini inquietanti, una governante di colore, il cuoco, il mistero sulla fine dell’ex educatrice e naturalemente il socio dello zio Peter Quint.
L’atmosfera idilliaca di Dany con i bambini dura poco e presto emergono le loro paure. La piccola Flora continua a ripetere “E’ perfettamente spelndido” che è usata per far intendere che la pace è solo sulla superfice e che le paure cominciano ad emergere quando Dany viene richiusa nell’armadio dai bambini per gioco e coincidenze sempre più strane e poco a poco raffiora il signoficato della frase “è perfettamente splendido” che è una frase per suggerire che la pace nel maniero è solo in superfice. Le prime due puntate riprendono i primi capitoli del libro di Henry James e la trama si scioglie quando cominciano a introdurre Quint con un flashback che è come un’altalena cronologica con il presente e il passato. La quinta puntata ha una “prospettiva fantasma” ovvero una parte del racconto narrata da uno spettro e qui entriamo nella tecnica del film di “The Others”di Amenàbar.
Flanagan lavora sui personaggi di Henry James, li aumenta, li ingradisce mofidicandoli con la flessibilità alla loro memoria per magari cambiarli. Il personaggio di Dany è uno dei personaggi che non salta da un tempo all’altro e s’impone la natura psicoanalitica della serie che “Bly Manor” è un luogo mentale, un campo di battaglia per la resa dei conti per i suoi traumi come ad esempio il suo fidanzato che la perseguita. Bly Manor trattiene i fantasmi a se come se fosse una “casa-mente” cioè una prigione mentale, che è difficile liberarsi. Nell’ottavo episodio che è “The Romance of Certain Old Clothes” è una “origin story” di Bly Manor viene narrata la nascita della maledizione del maniero attraverso due sorelle: Viola e Perdita ed è una narrazione che si potrebbe chiamare “film nel film”, come anche in Hill House” si racconta l’orrore che sta a cavallo tra Edgar Allan Poe e Shirly Jackson. Infine cosi ci muoviamo tra le faide famigliari, oggeti stregati come il baule in Bly Manor che era come un portale in un’altra dimensione e il loop dove s’intrappola il fantasma di Viola: “si svegliò, si alzò e si mise a camminare” che è un parallelismo con la cantilena della piccola Flora: “è perfettamente splendido!”, e il suo epilogo è come diceva Foster Wallace: ogni storia d’amore è una storia di fantasmi.
“The Haunting” is a paranormal anthology series directed by Mike Flangan, it currently consists of two seasons which are clearly inspired by famous horror stories which are “The Nightmare of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson and “Giro of Lives ”by Henry James
PLOT:
The first season is “Hill House” and is based on the novel by Shirly Jackson and alternates between two timelines and between some flaskbacks and follows the story of a family and their paranormal experiences at Hill House.

Olivia Crain / Carla Cousin: Very protective and affectionate mother of five children and with a great talent for the architect, unfortunately, however, her story takes a very sad turn, which will lead her to a tragic epilogue
Timoty Hutton and Henry Thomas / Hugh Crain: Family father very apprehensive and protective of his children, but the events of Hill House will sadly cause him to turn away from them
Elizabeth Reaser and Lulu Wilson / Shirley Crain Harris: She is her eldest daughter, she owns a mortuary with her husband Kevin and they have two children

It is the “second season” of The Haunting and is an adaptation of the Henry James novel “Turn of the Screw”, but also includes other works by Henry James created for the show.

Jack Clayton’s “Suspence” film (The Innocents), which arrived in American cinemas in 1961, opened with a novelty for viewers: and it was a black screen in the dark with the song “O Willow Waly” sung by childish voices. “The Haunting of Bly Manor” starts from here, loosely based on the novel by Henry James “Turn of the Screw”, along with the second season is a series created by Mike Flanagan and the song “O Willow Way” is proposed at the beginning in various modality in order to make it clear that he does not want to talk only about the book but also with the film of ’61.
The protagonist is Dany Clayton, played by Victoria Pedretti and is summoned to educate two children, Miles and Flora, as the previous housekeeper had a mysterious end. In Mike Flanaghan’s works what is highlighted is their psyche starting with the family in Hill House up to the traditional family in Bly Manor even if the inhabitants of the house have no ties to angue, but still constitute a family unit. Visually, Flanaghan renders his work compact and homogeneous.
In his narrative there is always a person who opens the story, we do not know his identity, but we know that he entertains the guests and even if it does not seem it is an opening dedicated to Henry James, the voiceover is expressed in the same way of the writer and around their lives there are the events of the manor: the disturbing children, a black housekeeper, the cook, the mystery about the end of the former educator and of course the partner of uncle Peter Quint.
Dany’s idyllic atmosphere with the children does not last long and their fears soon emerge. Little Flora keeps repeating “It is perfectly spelndido” which is used to imply that peace is only on the surface and that fears begin to emerge when Dany is closed in the closet by children for fun and increasingly strange and little coincidences. little by little the meaning of the phrase “is perfectly splendid” reappears, which is a phrase to suggest that peace in the manor is only on the surface. The first two episodes pick up the first chapters of Henry James’s book and the plot melts when they begin to introduce Quint with a flashback that is like a chronological swing with the present and the past. The fifth episode has a “phantom perspective” that is a part of the story told by a ghost and here we enter the technique of the film of “The Others” by Amenàbar.
Flanagan works on the characters of Henry James, increases them, enlarges them by trusting them with the flexibility to their memory to maybe change them. The character of Dany is one of the characters who does not jump from one time to another and the psychoanalytic nature of the series imposes itself that “Bly Manor” is a mental place, a battleground for the showdown for his traumas as for example her boyfriend who persecutes her. Bly Manor holds ghosts to itself as if it were a “mind-house” ie a mental prison, which is difficult to break free. In the eighth episode which is “The Romance of Certain Old Clothes” is an “origin story” of Bly Manor the birth of the curse of the manor is narrated through two sisters: Viola and Perdita and it is a narration that could be called “film within the film. “, As also in Hill House” tells the horror that straddles Edgar Allan Poe and Shirly Jackson. Dopodiché un amico gli parlò di Power Brocker, una persona misteriosa che dava alle persone la possibilità di diventare supersoldati, cosi John ricevette delle cure che gli permisero di aver abilità sovrumane
BIOGRAFIA:
US AGENT/John Walker è nato nella città Custer’s Groove in Georgia, una città immaginaria del mondo Marvel. In giovane età cresce ammirando suo fratello maggiore Mike, pilota di elicotteri, morto nella guerra in Vietman nel 1974. Volendo essere all’altezza del fratello John si arruolò nell’esercito, cosi prestò servizio a Fort Bragg, ma solo in tempo di pace.
Super Patriota
Dopo aver conosciuto e ed essere in debito con Power Brocker si unisce alle “Unlimited Class Wrestling Federetion”, ma nel frattempo incontra Ethan Thurm, che diventa il suo manager, cosi gli assicura di trovare un sostegno finanziario. Lo aiuta a disegnare un costume e gli definisce una strategia che gli consente di farsi conoscere come Super-Patriot promuovendo la sua immagine attraverso le varie comunità.
Dopo di che tiene una performance dove critica brutalmente Captain America e viene attaccato in seguito da tre suoi sostenitori chiamati “Bold Urban commandos/Buckies”, ma prontamente li batte in una lotta e dimostra tutte le sue abilità e patriottismo.
In seguito Captain America rifiuta ancora la sua sfida e cosi lui lo attacca, ma poiché nessuno dei due è effettivamente stato sconfitto vengono messe in discussione le loro abilità combattive e a lui riconosce le abilità, la forza e la resistenza di Super-Patriot.
Captain America
Dopo un po’ Steave Rogers abbandona il costume di Captain America essendogli stato ordinato dalla “Commissione per le Attività Sovrumane” cosi si discute sul chi sarà il nuovo Captain America, cosi i candidati principali cadono su Sam Wilson e Nick Fury, e anche se non fosse interessato, Nick Fury, rimaneva troppo vecchio e lui non voleva lasciare il comando dello SHIELD e non sapevano se gli Stati Uniti fossero pronti per un equivalente di Captain America di colore.
In seguito la Dottoressa Valerie/Valentina Cooper/De La Fontaine, membro della Commissione, suggerì che sia proprio John Walker a predere il posto di Steave Rogers e John sebbene non sia d’accordo lo acceterebbe se Sam fosse d’accordo, in seguito John Walker prese come partner Hoskins/Battelstar e i due seguono gli ordini di Adrian Smith e John viene addestrato dalla Freedom Force, dai Guardsmen e dai Taskmaster che si concentra su come usare lo scudo. Un’altra delle missioni di Walker era aiutare Tarantula per dare la caccia ai dissidenti politici, ma nonostante questo si sente molto adisagio con i metodi di Tarantula dopo che ha minacciato un centro di dentenzione per immigranti. I due combattendo feriscono SpiderMan, ma tuttavia Walker decide di andarsene perchè pensò che questa non era la liena che avrebbe condotto Steave Rogers e sebbene cerchi di emulare la sua etica, John è sempre più aggressivo di lui.
In seguito Teschio Rosso ha in corpo, il clone di Steave e quindi attira John con un’orda di nemici, ma lui ferisce tutti i nemici cosi Teschio Rosso fa in modo che John affronti l’indetità di Steave e assuma le sue veci come “Capitano”, ma Rogers lo sconfigge e finalmente affronta Teschio Rosso.
Cosi John e Steave presentano un rapporto alla commissione per restituire l’uniforme di Captain America a Rogers, ma John convince Steave a riconsiderare l’uniforme e riprenderla e cosi ad una conferenza annuncia il ritorno di Captain America. Dopo di che John per affrontare la psicosi viene ipnotizzato cosi da fargli dimenticare la morte dei suoi genitori
U.S. Agent – John Walker
“US AGENT / John Walker” is a Marvel Comics character, and first appeared in the comics under the name of Super-Patriot and later as the incarnation of Captain America. Then a friend told him about Power Brocker, a mysterious person who gave people the chance to become super-soldiers, so John received treatment that allowed him to have superhuman abilities.
BIOGRAPHY
US AGENT / John Walker was born in the city of Custer’s Groove in Georgia, a fictional city of the Marvel world. At a young age he grew up admiring his elder brother Mike, a helicopter pilot, who died in the Vietman war in 1974. Wanting to live up to his brother John he enlisted in the army, so he served at Fort Bragg, but only in peacetime.
Super Patriot
After meeting and being indebted to Power Brocker he joins the “Unlimited Class Wrestling Federetion”, but in the meantime he meets Ethan Thurm, who becomes his manager, so he assures him to find financial support. He helps him design a costume and defines a strategy that allows him to make himself known as a Super-Patriot by promoting his image of him through the various communities.
After which he holds a performance where he brutally criticizes Captain America and is later attacked by three supporters of him called “Bold Urban commandos / Buckies”, but promptly beats them in a fight and demonstrates all of his skills and patriotism.
Later Captain America still refuses his challenge and so he attacks him, but since neither of them has actually been defeated their fighting skills are questioned and he recognizes Super-Patriot’s skills, strength and endurance.
Captain America
After a while Steave Rogers abandons the Captain America costume having been ordered to him by the “Commission for Superhuman Activities” so they discuss who will be the new Captain America, so the main candidates fall on Sam Wilson and Nick Fury, and even if not was interested, Nick Fury, he was too old and he didn’t want to leave SHIELD command and didn’t know if the United States was ready for an equivalent of Black Captain America.
Subsequently, Dr Valerie / Valentina Cooper / De La Fontaine, member of the Commission, suggested that it is John Walker who takes the place of Steave Rogers and John, although he disagrees, would accept it if Sam agreed, later John Walker took Hoskins / Battelstar as a partner and the two follow Adrian Smith’s orders and John is trained by the Freedom Force, the Guardsmen and the Taskmasters who focuses on how to use the shield. Another of Walker’s missions was to help Tarantula hunt down political dissidents, but despite this, he feels very uncomfortable with Tarantula’s methods after he threatens an immigration detention center. The two fighting wounds SpiderMan, but however Walker decides to leave because he thought that this was not the line that would lead Steave Rogers and although he tries to emulate his ethics, John is always more aggressive than him.
Later Red Skull has Steave’s clone in his body and then lures John with a horde of enemies, but he wounds all the enemies so Red Skull makes John face Steave’s indetiteness and take his place as ” Captain, ”but Rogers defeats him and finally faces Red Skull.
So John and Steave submit a report to the commission to return Captain America’s uniform to Rogers, but John convinces Steave to reconsider the uniform and take it back and so at a conference he announces the return of Captain America. After which John to deal with the psychosis is impnotized so as to make him forget the death of his parents

“The Others” è un film scritto e diretto da Alejandro Amenàbar, ispirato al libro di Henry James “Giro di Vite”, i suoi principali interpreti sono: Nicole Kidman, Fionnula Flanagan, Christopher Eccleston, Eleine Cassidy, Eric Sykes, Alakina Mann e James Bentley. Il film ha ricevuto molte critiche positive in particolare per la regia, la sceneggiatura e la colonna sonora che sono di Alejandro Amenàbar e infine l’atmosfera e l’interpretazione di Nicole Kidman.
TRAMA
Rachel e i suoi due bambini vivono in una grande casa isolata sull’isola di New Jersey, un’isola che fa parte del canale della Manica, un giorno arrivano tre domestici che cambiano radicalmente la vita di Grace e dei suoi figli
PERSONAGGI:
Grace Stewart/Nicole Kidman: E’ una giovane madre molto protettiva e severa verso i suoi bambini, ma la sua severità la porta ad essere “cieca” sui veri pericoli della vita e sulla realtà che la circonda.
Anne E Nicolas/Alakina Mann e James Bentley: Sono i figli di Grace ed hanno una malattia che li rende fotosensibili per questo sono costretti a vivere solo alla luce di una candela, con il passare del tempo i due bambini, specialmente Anne, capiscono che nella loro casa è cambiato qualcosa dall’arrivo dei tre domestici e che la loro malattia è “cambiata”
Bertha Mills, Lydia, Mr. Edmoud Toutle/Fionnula Flanagan, Eleine Cassidy, Eric Seyes: Sono tre sconosciuti che si presentano all’improvviso a casa di Grace e si presentano come domestici, la donna li accoglie volentieri avendo bisogno di un aiuto in casa. Con il passare del tempo la presenza dei tre domestici si fa sempre più strana e inquietante
Charles Stewarts/Christopher Ecclestone: è il padre di Anne e Nicholas e marito di Grace, di ritorno dalla guerra e l’uomo sembra che incolpi Grace per qualcosa che lei sembra aver dimenticato

Con una grande quantità di nomination tra vari festival e ben 8 Goya, questo film può sembrare una normale ghost stories che non meritava molta attenzione, ma il fatto che il regista si sia ispirato al romanzo di Henry James (1868) e il film di Suspense (1961) e la fotografia ispirata a quella Hitchcock, lo rendono molto interessante. Alejandro A. omaggia Hitchcock dando alla protagonista, interpretata da Nicole Nicole Kidman, il nome Grace in onore di Grace Kelly. Nonostante i vari influssi differenti, questo film appare con una tecnica studiata con una sceneggiatura dagli interessanti risvolti il che l’ha reso uno dei film significativi degli ultimi vent’anni. In questo film vengono ignorati però alcuni particolari come i silenzi e gli elementi nascosti come il make up di cui si serve A. Amenabar per tenere fisso lo spettatore sullo schermo e sia la musica che la fotografia giocano sul contrasto tra luce e ombra, mentre il suono alza la scena della rivelazione.
La paura non viene legata al classico jumps scares, ma consiste nell’attesa della suspance e ci sono tutti gli elementi che caratterizzano l’ambiente come la nebbia, la notte, il cielo nuvoloso e un bosco che isola la famiglia e la casa in mezzo al nulla e queste sono tutte figurazioni tipiche “romantiche” di quel secolo e fuori dalla casa, nella foresta, c’è una terribile realtà che Grace non vuole vedere.
The Others comunque non viene considerato un film dell’orrore, ma non perché ci sono fantasmi e altre forze sovrannaturali, ma perché si parla “dell’orrore del vero” ovvero credere nella presenza del paranormale, in altre entità/Dei in questo caso credere in altro che non sia la Bibbia, Grace non conosce la casa quanto crede e a volte si stupisce da trovare alcuni oggetti che non conosceva e anche mostrandosi una fervente cattolica non riesce a comprendere alcune parole della Bibbia, parole a cui lei NON vuole credere, nonostante lo citino le sacre scritture, inoltre Grace è l’IO Freudiano che rifiuta il proprio Sè, perché rifiuta la consapevolezze della realtà. La frase che si accosta al nome di The Others è “Fiat Lux” ovvero la luce diurna che entra nella casa ovvero “le tenebre” il male e il bene “la luce”, ma i raggi solari ora “portano la morte” per i bambini che sono fotosensibili, ma secondo Amenabar la luce in questo caso è una metafora che rappresenta la coscienza di se e questa luce preme su Grace in particolare fin dall’inizio, ma lei non accetta la verità ne per se stessa ne per i figli.

With a large amount of nominations across various festivals and as many as 8 Goyas, this film may seem like a normal ghost story that didn’t deserve much attention, but the fact that the director was inspired by the Henry James novel (1868) and the Suspenseful film (1961) and Hitchcock-inspired photography make it very interesting. Alejandro A. pays homage to Hitchcock by giving the protagonist, played by Nicole Nicole Kidman, the name Grace in honor of Grace Kelly.
Despite the various different influences, this film appears with a technique studied with a scneggatura with interesting implications which made it one of the significant films of the last twenty years. In this film, however, some details are ignored such as silences and hidden elements such as the make-up used by A. Amenabar to keep the viewer fixed on the screen and both music and photography play on the contrast between light and shadow, while the sound lifts the scene of revelation.
