TRAMA
Una donna, si risveglia in una capsula criogenica e teme di aver perso la memoria, presto però diventerà una lotta contro il tempo per la mancanza d’ossigeno, per poter uscire dovrà recuperare la memoria e più andrà avanti e più capirà che la realtà non è quella che sembra

PRODUZIONE
Inizialmente doveva essere Anne Hathaway ha interpretare la protagonista e sarebbe stata anche la sua produttrice con il titolo O2 con la sceneggiatura di Christine LeBlanc. Dopodiché nel Febbraio 2020 annunciarono che Noomi Rapace avrebbe sostituito Hanna Hathaway con Franck Khalfoun e alla regia e Alexandra Aja come produttrice, ma infine nel Luglio 2020 Mélanie Laurent si unì al cast sostituendo Noomi Rapace e Aja divenne regista e il titolo fu cambiato in Oxygene
ANALISI SIMBOLICA DEL FILM
Questo film esplora molto a lungo la sopravvivenza e di cosa saremmo disposti a fare se saremmo esposti ad un countdown sulla nostra morte, ecco questo è un esperimento psicologico per sondare il panico e la determinazione, il regista mostra una persona già in preda ad allucinazione e déjà-vu lasciando lo spettatore nel dubbio.
Tra i ricordi più frequenti sono delle immagini di scienziati in laboratorio che lavorano a delle cavie agonizzanti o decedute i ricordi con il marito o anche con la sua famiglia e quindi il regista si sofferma marcando il paragone tra la loro condizione e quella della protagonista mettendo in risalto la pratica sulla sperimentazione sugli “animali” intesi come cavie/oggetti privi d’importanza, ma in questo film ribaltano la situazione che è l’essere umano ad essere intrappolato come un animale o come una cavia da esperimento.
Oltre agli spazi della capsula che creano “claustrofobia psicologica” per lo spettatore, abbiamo anche gli spazi mentali della protagonista che contrappongono con il “filtro blu” della trappola tecnologica, qui è un approssimarsi al tempo e alla narrazione

Alexandre Aja è un’ottima mano del cinema di genere dalle sue sue molteplici firme tra l’horror e il fantastico come il suo ultimo “Craw – Intrappolati” dove pone l’attenzione giovani donne a delle sfide. Sono molti gli espedienti narrativi che sanciscono la riuscita di questo film che si rivelano man mano che si dipana la trama e dei misteri che si nascondono al risveglio della donna e in quanto il film si tiene in piedi su una sola protagonista e la mano di Aja diventa saggia e consapevole: bravo ei ritmi narrativi e a tenere alta l’attenzione su cui si costruisce il mistero. E’ incredibile e particolare il rapporto che nasce fra la protagonista e l’intelligenza artificiale M.I.L.O che sarà un aiuto fondamentale per la ragazza, che sarà in grado di risponderle solo porrà delle domande in modo corretto ed è un po’ sulla falsa riga di “Searching” del 2018 che tutti gli indizi sono abilmente celati. In questo genere la forma e il contenuto s’accompagnano perfettamente nonostante il concept
di base e nel momento in cui i tasselli cominciano andare a posto il regista fa calare l’attenzione. Molti misteri vengono risolti nel finale, ma questa coerenza si perde per chiudere e staccare il montaggio nell’epilogo. Oxygène è incredibilmente avvincente grazie al ritmo e alla suspense che difficilmente fa calare l’attenzione, infine la cura della realizzazione estetica della capsula grazie all’atmosfera fanta-thriller che risulta come un terzo a tecito protagonista

PLOT
A woman wakes up in a cryogenic capsule and fears she has lost her memory, but soon it will become a race against time due to lack of oxygen, in order to get out she will have to recover her memory and the more she goes on, the more she will understand that reality is not it is what it seems

PRODUCTION
It was originally going to be Anne Hathaway to play the lead and would also be her producer under the O2 title with the script by Christine LeBlanc. After that in February 2020 they announced that Noomi Rapace would replace Hanna Hathaway with Franck Khalfoun as director and Alexandra Aja as producer, but finally in July 2020 Mélanie Laurent joined the cast replacing Noomi Rapace and Aja became director and the title was changed to Oxygene
SYMBOLIC ANALYSIS OF THE FILM
This film explores survival for a long time and what we would be willing to do if we were exposed to a countdown on our death, here this is a psychological experiment to probe panic and determination, the director shows a person already in the throes of hallucination and deja-vu leaving the viewer in doubt.
Among the most frequent memories are images of scientists in the laboratory working on dying or deceased guinea pigs, memories with her husband or even with her family and then the director pauses by marking the comparison between their condition and that of the protagonist, putting I emphasize the practice of experimentation on “animals” understood as guinea pigs/objects of no importance, but in this film they reverse the situation that is the human being who is trapped as an animal or as an experimental guinea pig.
In addition to the spaces of the capsule that create “psychological claustrophobia” for the viewer, we also have the mental spaces of the protagonist that contrast with the “blue filter” of the technological trap, here it is an approximation to time and narration

Alexandre Aja is an excellent hand of genre cinema from his multiple signatures between horror and fantasy like his latest “Craw – Trapped” where he brings young women’s attention to challenges. There are many narrative devices that confirm the success of this film that are revealed as the plot unfolds and the mysteries that hide when the woman wakes up and as the film stands on a single protagonist and the hand of Aja becomes wise and aware: good at narrative rhythms and at keeping the attention on which the mystery is built. The relationship that arises between the protagonist and the artificial intelligence M.I.L.O is incredible and particular, which will be a fundamental help for the girl, who will be able to answer her only if she asks questions correctly and is a bit along the lines of ” Searching” of 2018 that all clues are cleverly hidden. In this genre, form and content go perfectly together despite the concept
basic and the moment the pieces begin to fall into place the director lowers attention. Many mysteries are solved in the finale, but this coherence is lost to close and detach the montage in the epilogue. Oxygène is incredibly captivating thanks to the rhythm and suspense that hardly draws attention, finally the care taken in the aesthetic creation of the capsule thanks to the fantasy-thriller atmosphere that appears as a third-party protagonist
